It is hard to believe that we are almost at the close of 2006. It is amazing to look back nine months ago and think about the things that we were doing on campus at Oregon State and the things we were doing to prepare ourselves for the move down here to Midland. It has been such a great first four months for us here and now that we are getting ready to head back to Oregon for a couple of weeks to spend time with family, we begin to prepare ourselves for the first of the year.
January will be a busy month for us and February has the potential to be even busier. We have two Christianity & Culture Conferences in January, one in Garden Ridge, Texas and one in Nampa, Idaho. We will be going to both of these conferences to help with logistics and be available to our faculty that are speaking. We also will be officially moving into our new office that we have been remodeling for the last few months. It is very exciting to finally be moving in and to see all of the hard work that we have put into making that office shine. Our office is in such an amazing location, as it is less than a block from one of the two public high schools. We are excited to be a presence in the community there and to make our office open to the high school students for lunch. We also are in the process of trying to set up an apologetics class that we can offer the students as an after-school activity. These would be classes going through the existence of God, the resurrection of Jesus Christ, and the reliability of scripture. We would both be teaching these classes, which would be exciting for both of us.
Along with these activities our camp registration opens on the second of January, so our office will be flooded with phone calls of students signing up for camp. That also means that we officially begin to piece together our staff team for the upcoming summer. Michael will be recruiting at Auburn University and LeTourneau University as he begins to seek those people that God would direct toward staffing with us over the summer.
On a personal note, we are very excited to continue to build relationships with people here in Midland. We continue to meet amazing people that have and hopefully will become very good friends. We have begun to attend a Bible study of sorts every other Sunday night and beginning the first of the year, will be attending a small group for our church every Sunday afternoon. We are excited to see how the Lord will continue to draw us closer to people and to each other.
Starting the first of the year, we will also begin to more actively puruse the additional financial support that we need for next year. We are so confident in our God, though, as He has provided in amazing ways this year. Everything is the Lord's and He will provide for the needs that we have, and that is a promise that we rest in each and every day.
Please keep us in your prayers over the Christmas season as we travel and for our time with family. Also, we have a staff retreat in Colorado from December 28th through January 1st. Please pray for the safety of all staff that wil be driving and flying in to Colorado.
You will be in our prayers!! Have a great Christmas with family and friends!!!
God Bless You,
Mike & Angela
