We were challenged this summer in new and exciting ways.

God grew Angela in a very personal way this summer. He brought experiences that were trying and difficult, relationships that required her to empower and give up responsibility, and a new understanding of her role as a wife and how to actively fuse the responsibility of wife and staff director.
By the third week of camp the leadership team was able to step back and empower the staff to take on more responsibilities with camp. By this point the staff had gained a better feel of how camp ran and of their responsibilities with in camp. As a result, we were able to catch a breath and process how camp and life was going. It was then that God began revealing that there was a disconnect in her role as wife to her role as staff director. Through much discipleship and taking intentional time to listen to God’s prompting, Angela began to alter the role and responsibilities of a staff director to enhance Mike’s role as a camp director and husband. This is something that she has begun to incorporate back at home and is seeking new growth and wisdom to better support Mike in ministry and in their family; not separating the two, but pursuing both as a cohesive entity and responsibility.



This summer was Mike’s first full camp season in the role of camp director. He came into the summer confident in the staff he had selected as well as the leadership team that were to be his support. There were high expectations set and an increased level of excitement as we set off.
Saying the summer was challenging would probably be an understatement. God used different circumstances from tornadoes, severe lightning, troubled students, and logistical challenges to stretch Mike in ways that made him rely upon God and not his own flesh. Mike also was challenged through teaching at camp as he sometimes taught six times each week. Though Mike was inadequate, God used him as a vessel for His glory and honor in the lives of the students and staff.
