Camp 2009

Well, we are at Wednesday night of our first camp and I am just now getting to our first blog entry. We are currently at Oklahoma Wesleyan University in Bartlesville, Oklahoma in the northeast corner of the state. We have only about 45 students this week which adds an interesting dynamic to our week. Being the first week it is nice to have a smaller group because our staff can co-lead instead of having a group on their own, but it makes it difficult because this particular group is more relaxed and low key so the energy level is a little bit lower than in other camps.

It has been a challenging week if I am being honest. Not only has it been challenging for Angela and Drew to be back at home and me be here at camp but we have had sickness going around the camp pretty rampantly. We had one staff girl come down sick with a sore throat, fever, and a cough so we took her to a doctor and were told that she tested negative for strep and did not have the flu. So, we put her in a room to try and quarantine her and though she is feeling better now, since she has come down with a virus more than seven kids (of our 45) have gotten sick and another staff member. Please pray that this sickness would begin to dissipate and that we would trust God in this situation and through this time.

As we wind up this first week of camp over the next two days I am looking forward to campfire tomorrow night. This group has been such a mellow group that I am curious to see how they will react and what they will share about their week. Then we move on to Baylor University in Waco. I am really looking forward to being on campus there at Baylor as it has always been a great place for us as a camp. Please pray that Angela and Drew will be able to join us next week at camp. It has to be so draining for her to feel like I am not able to help. Please pray that details would work out that she would be able to join us.
