New Mexico... Welcome to Worldview

Our first ever camp in the state of New Mexico has begun. We have 80 students here this week, which is a drastic change from the 177 we had last week at Baylor. One of the nice aspects of this is that our staff gets a chance to really get their feet under them and get a more realistic picture of what small groups will consist of this summer. They have done a great job thus far.

One of the difficult and sometimes frustrating aspects of camp is that we are almost wholly dependant upon the facilities which we are renting. This week the facilities are sub-par. We have a smaller meeting room and the campus itself is in the middle of Albequerque, NM which is not the best part of town. Though it is something that is not preferrable, the staff has responded well by making it the best it could possibly be. For these students this is their only week of camp for the summer and we cannot afford to simply shrug the week off, but we are called to excellence and part of that includes making the best of the facilities we are given.

Tonight the students have three lectures to attend. One is on the difference between a character-driven leader and a charisma driven leader. One attempting to please God and the other attempting to please men. Then they have a time for worship and then we dive into our second class which is on Christian Ethics. Is there a 'right' and a 'wrong' and can we know these to be true? Then they end the evening with a lecture entitled "What's so great about Christianity." In this lecture we examine the claim of the resurrection because if Jesus Christ did not rise from the dead then as Paul says, our faith is futile and worthless. In fact, we are to be pitied most among all men. So, in this hour we examine the claim of the resurrection and look at the options that are possible, because the tomb was empty.

Like every week thus far, we have been graced with the presence of much water falling from the sky. Please continue to pray for us as we seek to show Christ to these students as they are extremely excited to be here this week.
