The Weary Road

Well... We arrived in San Diego safe and sound, but not before we blew a tire on what has become a tradition at Worldview Academy. It was the van we were riding in, (Michael was driving) and we had our windows down to try and air it out a little bit when all of a sudden something sounded a little different. Michael looked at the rear driver's side tire and saw it was a little flat and watched as the air slowsly escaped from the tire. He immediatly pulled over and as the staff got out to look at the tire, we could still hear air rushing from the tire. We were very lucky to notice it when we did because their was a slow onramp and we were able to come to a stop where there was plenty of room to look at the tire.

We proceeded to get out and begin to change the tire. There were five or six guys working on loosening the lugnuts when all of sudden one of the lugnut screws broke in half. The metal had completely snapped in half. We then carefully began to loosen the other rusty lugnut screws and proceeded to break off another one and a half screws. Recognizing that we could no longer afford the risk of having the staff ride in this van even with a new tire, Michael and one of our staff guys jumped in to drive the van slowly the thrity miles we needed to go to reach our destination where there was a tire place to fix our tire and the lugnut screws. What should have taken two hours to fix took just over an hour and the six guys and two vehicles that drove to the tire store left to catch up with the rest of our staff.

Things like this just remind us of God's hand upon us. Thinking back to how much of a trouble this could have been, it was resolved so quickly. We go two new tires and fixed the wheel and were only delayed about an hour total. It was such a blessing. It also reminded us that the Lord is in control and He puts us through various things so that we can learn to trust Him more.
